Cavs not drafting Lawson

While I think 19 would have been a bit high, I would not have been outraged to see the Cavs tab Ty Lawson, assuming folks Brandon Rush and OJ Mayo were gone.

After getting arrested for driving drunk, I now doubt it's even a possibility. My guess would be he's going back to school to try to climb into the lottery. Even if he didn't, I can't see the Cavs, with their love of character guys, reaching for a guy who was recently arrested.

Yeah, I think he's going back to Chapel Hill.

OK, I want your thoughts. I read this and actually watched Drennan talk about this on All Bets Are Off last night.

The Pacers are interested in sending their 11th pick and Jermaine O'Neal for Wally and Snow...did I read that right?

How can we not do this? Even if O'Neal is banged up, which I get the feeling that he is one of those guys who would be a force again if you put him on a winning team, the 2 mid-first round picks should more than make up for that. If this is an option, the Cavs HAVE to do this.

You can trot out Z, Jermaine, Bron, and whoever out backcourt would be and we would have the best frontline in hoops.

Now you can play on Draft Day with the 11th and 21st. Maybe trade up to 5 with the Grizz and take Mayo???

How do you not rubber stamp this trade and are the Pacers the worst organization in the league?

From the News Herald:

A league source said there's no truth to a trade rumor involving Pacers forward/center Jermaine O'Neal coming to the Cavs. The Web site, www.draftexpress.com, reported the rumor that O'Neal and the Pacers' No. 11 selection could be traded for the expiring contracts of the Cavs' Wally Szczerbiak and Eric Snow.

If we did get offered this deal, we woudl have to be insane not to do it.

I can't imagine that trade is plausible without swapping picks.

And even if we weren't, I don't think 11 and 19 are getting us into the top 5. Maybe if we took on another bad contract like Brian Cardinal, though even he isn't awful now, a year from being an expiring.

That said, if O'Neal comes in exchange for nothing of value, you have to do it. It does instantly take us from major players in any salary dump to a team with a set roster for the next 2 years, but to be set around that front line is a good thing.

If we do that, our hypothetical rotation next year is:
Z, JO, LBJ, Delonte, Sasha, Boobie, Andy, Joe Smith and DJ. Plus in a pick or two to replace Andy/Smith and DJ. If we turned DJ into Mayo, I'd wet myself with joy. Then shit myself from the embarrassment of wetting myself. Then I'd buy season tickets.

And then I'd change my underwear.
