Well, that'll just about sum it up. It was a close game, back and forth all night when Lebron decided to bury the dagger. In my completely unbiased opinion, I believe that call could go down in history alongside "Do you believe in miracles?" if this game propels the Cavs to 10 more wins.
Late game brilliance aside, Lebron struggled to do much damage on his own again. Going 7-20, though, actually raised his FG% for the series to a stout 25.6%. However, as has become his MO, he used the attention put upon him to find open looks for his teammates, including a stellar no look under the rim to Joe Smith and the real dagger, a pick and roll three for Boobie.
So this is 2 games we've won without Lebron at his best. That's 2 more than anybody would've guessed before post-season. For the Cavs, the heroes just keep coming. Tonight Boobie and Wally led the way from the perimeter, while Anderson Varejao joined Joe Smith in doing damage inside. For a stretch late in the game, Andy dominated KG at both ends, pulling down every board and hitting some shots that had left every Cavs fan cripped with terror.
The defense, of course, is the real deciding factor. The Celtics have yet to crack 85 points. Despite 2 terrible showings in Boston, the Cavs have to feel comfortable that if they can maintain the rotation and physical play that have taken each of Boston's big three out of the game, they'll be able to put up the points to get the win.
Mike Brown also continues to do a great job, keeping the hot hands involved and the rotation tight, as Sasha scored a few first half minutes and Z sat throughout the 4th as Joe Smith and Andy played great. We still ran the usual mostly boring offense, occasionally looking like we simply wanted to take a knee with a 4 point lead late, but at least a number of the screens were off towards the wing and a few used Boobie, leading to his big night.
Now that the series is evened up, the pressure lays evenly on both teams. The winner of Game 5 after being tied 2-2 wins the series something like 85% of the time. The Celtics know they need to protect their home court, but the Cavs must also want to close things out at home without needing to head back to Boston for a Game 7. Sooner or later Lebron must get hot. I can't accept that the Celtics defense is that good, when Lebron, when he's aggressive, seems to get into the lane for shots he usually makes.
Now it's time to watch me some House to come down from this adrenaline high and start prepping for Wednesday. And by prepping for Wednesday I mean going in to work tomorrow and Wednesday incredibly anxious to get back to my couch by gametime.
Go Cavs!
(PS - How funny was Lebron's mom? "Mom, sit down!" I bet she could take KG. At least in the 4th quarter.)

I am 100% confident that this team will win this series. That 4th quarter defense was so great that I was weeping with joy at the effort.
I LOVE that the Celtics are somewhat backed against the wall now against a team with a certain guy that is averaging 42/6/7 in game 5's when the series is even. The more pressure on these career losers, the better.
We win this in 6, with or without LeBron's jumper falling.
